Rainy Irony

Little Johnny begged the rains to go away, for he wanted to play. Some of today's large hearted Johnny's have royally offered treasure to the Lord  with an appeal for the rains. Lets call it  religious pragmatism?
So much so, all for the rains that Johnny did not want, but the farmers do need and ultimately we all. Not obnoxious an act, in contacting the Lord with a worship worth a fortune to ensure he would shower on us. The irony of the treasure swept away for the welfare of farmers, but by the Lord, for showering rains. With no denial of the honour to Lord.

All the Higgs Particle on this earth are at mercy of this Lord. The creator of God Particle is challenged the discovery of it, laments its identity at the mercy of the CERN where the 1% doubt of the Higgs Bososn existence is at the mercy of the God himself. But, God is yet to awake since he has just as yet received his email in his inbox, announcing the winning of a cash prize of Rs. 17 crore. Baaah... this is not for the 1%  confirmation needed for the Higgs Boson existence, but for the much awaited monsoon in Karnataka. The ruling government of our state has performed the radical mystical mantra for rains to be welcomed.

Oh God, do you hear me.  It was little Johnny who did not want it, and begged for it to go away so he could play. Yes we want rain. No, not for our Bollywood heroes and heroines to sing duet in wet clothes running (I would dare not call it dancing please, dance is logically a charming entity) around the trees. Not even for the Jack or Jill to run paper boats and sing rain rain everywhere.
If you listen to little Johnny you do still get the cash prize, so you do pour out of the heaven like the colorful parachute and we will not disappoint you. The SLR owners down here cant wait to capture the rain and the dancing peacocks in their camera's. Do not bother about the hobnobs on Facebook circulating pictures of rains or writers like me creating verses over them. But do throw a mercy on the poor farmers for their wishes, some writers like me for my words or a justice to the expensive beseech our government has offered you.

Rain, flood of ecstasy,
you raise in me.
Flood of pain too you raise
In the Bosom of the sea.

Little joy and pleasure you provide,
Harvester's future you decide.
Little paper ferry made,
Still waters of garden, croaking toad.

The irony of the need,
And the pains of the rain.
The if's and but's,
Welcome is the rain'
Due the farmers grain.

  1. There has always been incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result.
Rain has been always one of those like Gambling. Some wants and Some does'nt.

    Nicely written,

  4. I think a balance of rains would be good... No rain is too bad leading to drought and too much of rain leads to floods!
    Nice Poem!

  8. Man is behaving like the proverbial bhasmashura - the demon who could turn anyone into ashes by placing his hand on any person.

Climate change has become a reality. We need to wake up and act. Else, we will have famine and also unseasonal rains. No amount of offering bribes to God will change this situation.

  12. Rains in Karnataka are magical....one has to experience them to know the difference. I have never seen it rain in Delhi like it did in Bangalore. It was almost lyrical...dance of nature.
