Cycle and the Chicken

Race of thoughts in mind rushing through. At age 5 as Jui learnt her bicycle, we bought her a new big cycle, the 20" wheeled, yes, pink in colour needless to mention, etc etc. As I watch her cycling the mind tempted swift away into reveries, tickled me to recall the past.
 My past.

As its common to say, "those were the days", they are gone now, those days were golden days",  yes- all true. These days are nicer too.
At age 11 when my dad used to rent bicycle for me so I could learn, it was really a moment we valued so much. One hour to work hard, beasue Iam paying for that hour then to return the cycle. As i learnt independently, finally I got my brand new BSA SLR at age 12. And I was so crazy about it that I had once cycled 12 kilometers on manipal roads. Open grounds with  lush greenery around, I would go round and round on sunday mornings with it. Also became very stingy for a while to even share it with my sister and would trouble her a lot! sigh, made mistakes:-(.
Slowly I became the official  driver [ then itself] and amma would often send me to the corner stores for reaons like, "guests comming and sugar over, milk over, just one ketchup or else we[sisters] will not eat the dosas, little rava or else pappa will starve without fish fry that night, and so on". Going on with it, finally one sunday  amma said the chiken farm is just 2 kms around, and if I could go to pick up fresh chiken. Guess what the elders were busy doing, Ramanand Sagar kept them busy at 9am. The Ramayan, can still remember the title song and the bells ringing. Also the Mahabharath.  And I was there in the farm buying chicken. So it all started. On weekdays, I would get busy with studies and sports [ yes I was an district lever player of Basket ball and also a sprint], so for my favourite cycling I would dedicate the sunday morning time "chicken farm" trip which was guaranteed!.
One thing connected to this is that Smitha would prefer to join me to the farm with a friend's old heavy cycle. We cycled together, njoyed yes, But how selfish I was again,I would share my cycle only little time with my younger sis and she would other times mannage that heavy old antique cycle of a friend. Huh...  and now she says she became tough riding it!!
